Assignment 6: "Advantages and disadvantages of blogs in the English classroom"

Essays are so difficult for me, because I don´t have the word gift and the ones that I had to write haven´t had a good qualification. But I will make an effort for this one!
Along this hole year we had been working on blogs to improve our English, it hasn´t be easy or very pleasant, but finally I found it worth it.
A blog is a website where you can post all the times you want (or must in this case) about an subjet. Nowdays you can find blogs about nature, diaries, etc.
To use this methodology the first requisite is to have a computer, then you must have an internet conexion and finally you must like (a little) computer things because other way it´ll be a completly torture.
Being honest the blog work has had many advantages for me, because I learnt how to make my own website, to change the colours and format to adapt it to my personality.
Also I´d learnt to write my opinion in other language, encouraging me to look for new words or to search the meaning of words that I already knew.
I´ve noticed that, as my oral and writing English are more fluid. Also now I made much less mistakes than before.
I think the main disadvantage is the time you need to dedicated it if you want to do a good job. Because besides this we have English Discoveries and face to face classes too. This without counting all the subjetcs proper of our career.
As an advice I suggest to extend the english hours in the academic curriculum, in this way students could dedicated more time to learn this universal language. Also, another solution could be reduce the activities, but I think isn´t worth it, because work in blogs is really helpful to learn to think in English.
To finish I will like to thanks to Ksenia and Leda who helped me to improve my English, because in spite of many leave the English course you didn´t do it which motivated me to go on.

Assignment 1: My Fiestas Patrias

I spent the Fiestas Patrias with my family, with my whole maternal family. My uncles organized a barbecue in my grandmother's house. Always my father and uncles begin to make the barbecue, but my brother is the one who ends it.My uncles, after to lunch, they like to play a game card called “briscas”. They can stay hours playing the card game. While my father and uncles were playing, my aunts and my mom were talking and my grandma was washing the dishes.I have a two years old niece and she loves to dance our tipical national dance “cueca”. I don't like dance it so much, but she looks really cute dancing it.In the morning of 19th I went to “Las Rocas de Santo Domingo” to share with my uncle Juan and his family. He is the older brother of my dad. It was a sunny day, and one more time, we ate barbecue with salads and “empanadas”. After the lunch time I went with my cousin Juan Pablo and his girlfriend to beach, because He likes fishing. Like my mother's brothers he can stay hours fishing. He loves that activity. In my uncle´s house I spend a really nice time because there is really calm and relaxing. On sunday 23 I came back to Santiago to continued with my academic duties.
I think is very important enjoy the Fiestas Patrias with the family, is a especial time to meet with them. Also, is important to be careful, like slogan say: "If you want to drink alcohol, don't drive"Years earlier, I liked to go "Fondas" with my friends, but this year I wanted to enjoy this vacations in a different way, with my family. Besides, We never know when they will not be with us.

DO AND MAKE:
Both are verbs, but they are use to express different things:

Use 'do' to express daily activities or jobs. Notice that these are usually activities that produce no physical object. Also we can used it to name general things when we don´t know the name of.
ex: do homework
do the dishes
do a job
I´m not doing anything today

Use 'make' to express an activity that creates something that you can touch.
ex: make food
make a cup of tea/coffee
There are also standard collocations (verb + noun combinations) that are used in English.
ex: make plans
make an exception
make arrangements
make a telephone call
make a decision
make a mistake

Assignment 3: Write a Film Review of a Scary Movie

It´s hard for me to talk about films because I have a awful memory to remember their names, so I´m going to tell you about one of my favourite scary movie (that´s why I remember the name, jaja)

The film begins with a close-up of a woman screaming. It take place in a creepy mansion at the end of the World War II.

Meanwhile, the two children, Anne and Nicholas, must constantly stay in the dark because they are deathly allergic to light. Then one day three people show up to take over for Grace's disappeared staff, and trouble starts to appear. The odd trio (an aging nanny, an elderly gardener, and a young mute girl) seems to have a slightly different agenda than Grace and the children do. But when Anne starts talking to strange, unseen people, the scares start building to an incredible climax.
Long time you will be stick in to you seat, while you see and heard dead people, very strange. Little by little starts to appear an ugly grandmother who tries to evict Grace´s family.

Assignment 5: Art

A pieces of art I like are the ones painted by Roberto Matta.

I love the mixt of shapes ando colours that he made in every piece of art. It´s notorius the influency of Dalí (another artist I like), but Matta as another favour point, he is Chilean.
I`ve always have love surrealism because I think is one of painting styles that allows you blow your mind and paint whatever you want, making sure that the colours you choose fix.
In one interwiew Matta refered to art, saying:
"I don´t pint, I see in spots a cosmos.
I start from spots.
Like people see cows in clouds, I see worlds in spots"

It was very hard to me find just one paint to include in this post, but I must do what the assignment said, so here it is...
This painting is called: Neruda, imagen de un centenario
Of course the painter is Roberto Matta
I choose this picture because It was made in honor to other Chilean Artist: Pablo Neruda

Assignment 4: Favourite Website

Speak about my favourite website is really difficult to me, because I don’t a favourite one. In fact, nowadays I use internet for just two reasons: to review my email and to resolve dudes related to university.

I remember when I was younger I had many favourites websites as matter of fact I used to spend hours a day visiting several sites. But I had two really favourites. The first one was La Cuerda, a website where you can find guitar tabs and lyrics. This one I used to visit almost every day when I could spend hours and hours playing guitar.

The second one is a site where you can play Pictograph (sometimes I still visiting it). In one time I was an addict to that game and I played every day, but now I don’t have time for things like that.

I will leave the links to both websites:
- All tabs you need to know
- An addictive game that you couldn’t stop playing

Assignment 2: "Can I really change my life?"by>Lauren Slater

The article I read was about a bulimic girl that change her life style ussing a method call Prochaska`s model.

This model is being used in a bullying-reduction program in Rhode Island middle schools, also depressives, alcoholics, gamblers, avereaters people, etc.

It has five stages of change:

1. Precontempletion: you not detect it until you are trough it

2. Contemplation: you decide to make a change.

3. Preparation: you do something for the change

4. Action: “enforced my own behaviour/reduction program”

5. Maintenance: you search new ways to keep the change

According to specialists: Massachusetts based addictions specialist Kathryn Divis says “There's no question that the stage based model is more succesfull”... work whit your patient where they're at while encouraging them to progress

In conclusion We can change what we do.
The important thing is how much you can change, not how or whether and Prochaska shows a path to do the change

I will prove the method and then I tell you about it.

What about strikes?

Hello!, actually I think that a strike is unfavourable for us, first because for the institution the fact that we loose class isn`t a real pression method and second, because our classes and exams get delayed.

Also I think that the motives for the strike weren`t clear and everyones strike for different reasons, nobody have a real view of the actual situation of our University.
